My therapist journey

I was born in London in 1978 and of Irish, Dutch and Italian parentage. My family moved around which exposed me to other cultures. I spent most of my twenties and half of my thirties teaching English in different places and trying to figure out who I was. In 2013 I returned to Amsterdam and decided to train as a therapist and life coach. During my study I realised that I was stuck in some childhood beliefs and behaviours that no longer served me and didn’t fit with who I wanted to be.

As a result of my training, I got to know myself properly. I learned about my strengths and, more crucially, what was holding me back. By redefining my expectations and freeing myself from those unhelpful beliefs, I adjusted my sense of self and shaped my life to fit who I had become. In short, with self-knowledge came self-acceptance, calmness and emotional balance.

My experience

After completing my diploma at the Academy of Counselling & Life Coaching in the Hague, I started practising full time in Amsterdam and have worked with close to two hundred expat professionals and international students.

It’s an honour to guide clients and witness their shift in how they see themselves and start instigating meaningful changes towards a happier life.
